Waiting for the Bride

Week 3 of our Image of the week see's that yet again it's not necessarily the Bride and Groom that it's al about. While waiting for guests and obviously the Bride, the Grooms father was constantly checking his watch, only a matter of "Time" before I caught him (as we used to say) on film!

This was a wedding in the village of Thornton in Bradford at 3pm. Rather later in the day but for last Saturday this was a good thing. Earlier and right up to the image captured was miserable, raining and windy. 2:30 though, it all stopped, sun came out, clouds cleared and the whole day brightened up perfectly.

Reception was at the St Ives Golf club in Bingley for a buffet style gathering which saw myself depart around 6:30.

Image of the Week

Image of the Week

Image of the week this week was shot on Saturdays wedding at Bagden Hall Hotel with the lovely Phillippa & Paul, an amazing couple with so much love and care for each other. A reflection in the bedroom mirror with the dress on the right hand side, and bride picked out with some nice window light.

The day started off at around 10:45 with coverage of the bride getting ready, make-up and so on. Lighting was all window light, helped by a small reflector with the aid of my assistant. Rain was pouring down just after our arrival but with a good forecast, we reasured the bride al was going to be fine, and it was. By the time they had tied the knot at 1pm the sun was blazing, and it was glorious.

A few more images here from this wedding and will be going in to more detail over the next few days. Covering in detail about off camera flash usage and our up and coming training and workshop sessions.

Image of the Week

New to our Blog this week is our new "Image of the week". we are going to try and upload what we think best suits this title, and let's hear from all you followers what you think of them.

First weeks image is this one, taken on last Saturday's wedding in Leeds at a venue in Kirkstall. This lady was caught taking a few min's shut eye while waiting for food to be served.

I find some of the best images captured are the one's that are the most unexpected, I had taken a couple of shot's of this lady earlier on in the day but with a little patience and observation managed to capture this tranquil moment.

What will next week's image be?

Marlin Images at the Wakefield Hospice Wedding Fayre

The last few weeks has been to say the least, very busy. Building up to this years early weddings fayres, creating some new great offers, and all the time editing current wedding album orders, phew.

Yesterday was the Wakefield Hospice Fayre at Cedar Court Wakefield, and was a busy day. Lot's of serious interest for our new Wedding Photography Promotion, and inquiries up to 2014!! wow...

Our next Fayre is at The Kings Croft in Pontefract on the 27th February and is run by the Wakefield Express. Anyone wishing to have a chat, then please come along, you will not be disappointed i promise. This Fayre is always well attended with some top businesses and lots of potential brides. We will also be at the Fayre at Elsecar on the 6th March run by The Barnsley Chronicle.

The biggest problem we are finding in the digital age, is all the so called wedding photographers out there that have just picked a camera up and are calling them selves professional wedding photographers. It takes years of training, consistency and a real flair to create your big days photos. Too many phone calls start with "can you sort our wedding photos out? they are dreadful" and all due to the photographer having no formal training. Too many brides are booking these cowboys because they are cheap, no other way to put it. By booking Marlin Images to photograph your wedding day, you are not only booking a qualified master photographer, but a photographer with a proven track record. Twice Avante Garde Wedding Photographer of the Year for West Yorkshire and recently the recipient of an International Award. A consistancy of photographs that only a very small few can attain. That's our way and our promise to you.

We are a Business based in Birstall, but regularly cover wedding photography in Leeds, Wakefield, Bradford, Halifax, Huddersfield and the greater Manchester area. Give us a call on our land line number or if you want to call after work, our mobile.

Marlin Images looking ahead....

Well the past few months has been a very busy time for us at Marlin Images with Weddings, Commercial work for some very large companies, and Events.

The wedding side of the business has seen a fantastic year, covering "The Wedding of the Year" for both the Dewsbury Reporter and the Wakefield Express, the later of which was held just a couple of weeks ago at The Kings Croft Hotel in Pontefract. We have also traveled near and far, the far taking us to Edingburgh and London, the near to The Woodlands Hotel in Gildersome but all were great weddings.

The commercial work has been very interesting indeed. We were commissioned to photograph the packaging for one of Sheffield's largest companies, Swann Morton who still supply some of the best Stainless Steel blades and scalpels all over the world. It saw us over several days work, shooting and styling the packaging, blades, scalpels, skin graft blades to an extremely high standard. Which now See's our work displayed on their website. At the other end of the scale and only this morning we attended a shoot for some PR photos for a local business, new graphics wrapped van, branded clothing with a big beaming smile.

Events has seen some excitement also, the chosen photographer at some high profile charity fund raising nights. Prestigious concerts with artists like Faryl Smith, of Britain's got talent fame. Large Brass Band contests, and also the ever growing trend of Proms. Last Sunday we attended one of the areas first Prom Fayre's, at one of the newest venues in Wakefield, The Space, specially created for next years prom guys and girls to have a taste of what they can wear, arrive in and which photographer to have at their school to photograph probably their biggest night of their life so far.

What's up and coming for the months ahead? quite a bit actually. We still have a wedding fayre at Wooley Hall to attend this weekend on the 21st November. Still several weddings to attend to before 2011 arrives, with lots of wedding orders hitting the email box every week. Already we have lots booked in for 2011 for weddings and events but dates are still available, so if you are interested in Marlin Images being your photographer of choice for your big day then please do not hesitate in giving us a call. Don't leave it too late, it will only dissapoint and we don't want that, do we?

Wedding Photos from yesterdays wedding @ Monk Fryston Hall.......

yesterday's wedding was amazing, with a beautiful Bride & Groom, fantastic family and a venue from heaven. We have photographed lots of weddings at Monk Fryston Hall over the past few years, and yesterday's was one of the best. Jamie & Alice, the Bride & Groom loved every minute of their special day, and by the reactions at the end of the evening slideshow so did everyone else.

Take a look at just a small selection from their photos, let us know what you think.

Bewleys Hotel, Leeds wedding shoot

Bewleys Hotel Leeds was our location last Friday with a hotel shoot, bride and groom and all to provide quality photography with a matching wedding album for display.
